It's that time of year again: the first new registration number series of the year is imminent and, from 1st March 2022, newly registered cars will be issued with '22' number plates. Registrations in this series have been available to buy since November 2021 but it will not be legal to display them on vehicles until 1st March 2022.
What can you do with a 22?
From a personalisation point of view, this is an interesting series. The number 2 can be used to represent the letters R and Z, so 22 could mean RR, ZZ, RZ, or ZR. Of course, there will also be those sharp-eyed buyers who think up combinations and representations that no one else thought of.
If you're considering buying a 22 registration then you should bear in mind that it can only be displayed on a vehicle with an original registration date of 1st March 2022 or later. The law says that private number plates may not be used to make vehicles seem younger than they really are.
No 22 car yet?
For those who may not currently have a car that is allowed to display a 22 registration, 22 numbers can be supplied on a certificate, ready to be assigned to an eligible vehicle when one is available. Certificates remain valid for 10 years before it's necessary to renew them.
Here are just a few examples of available 22 registrations. Just search our website to find many, many more.
