Olympic long-jump gold medallist Greg Rutherford is currently in the rink for ITV’s Dancing on Ice.
Since we featured Olympic Long-jump gold-medallist Greg Rutherford in issue 34 of our magazine, The World of Personal Number Plates, he has added even more successes to his record.
A personalised registration is something I’ve considered so many times and never gone for. But I thought GBR 601D (GBR Gold) was absolutely fantastic for me, and I was really excited.
In 2015, Greg won the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix with a jump of 8.17m and, in June of that year, he won the Diamond League events in Birmingham with a jump of 8.35m and in Oslo with a jump of 8.25m.
In August of that year, he completed his second-longest jump ever of 8.41m, winning gold at the World Championships, and won the long jump final in the IAAF Diamond League in Zurich.
2016 brought Greg further achievements: a new British indoor long jump record of 8.26m in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a defence of his European Championship title with a jump of 8.25m. He also took the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics with a jump of 8.29m.
Greg’s athletics career has been on hold since an ankle injury in 2017, but he has appeared on top shows such as Channel 4’s Time Crashers, (2015), BBC TV’s Strictly Come Dancing (2016), Celebrity MasterChef - winning the 2019 season.
And now, in January 2024, Greg is appearing as a contestant on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, paired with professional skater Vanessa James.
We wish Greg every success with his latest venture.
