The Registration Number Club (RNC) held its 2024 rally on Sunday 30th June 2024. The venue was The Classic Motor Hub near Bibury and Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
The event represented the rally's welcome return after a break in 2023. The cost of participation for those wishing to display cars and plates was a modest £8 per vehicle while, for visitors who just wanted to wander around and enjoy the spectacle, entry was free.
The perfect setting
The venue is the former home of RAF Bibury and, at 5 acres, offers plenty of space for car and personal registrations owners to get together. The Hub is a great destination for classic car owners to visit at any time, boasting showrooms as well as coffee and gift shops. With the added appeal of the rally, a good day out was assured.
A welcome return
It had been a while since Regtransfers managed to attend an RNC rally. In fact, 2019 was the last time, as the rally didn't take place in 2020 or 2021, and diary conflicts in 2022 meant we weren't able to attend. So, we were delighted to be able to send Angela Banh and John Doherty along for the 2024 event. It had been far too long.
The weather wasn't as summery as it had been the previous week, and the sky was a tad overcast; however, the rain held off and the day remained dry, which is what matters.
Was nice to see the familiar faces from previous rallies, such as actor Nicholas Young, author of Car Number Classics, and new faces such as the contingent from AW Lymn Funeral Directors. AW Lymn has appeared in our magazine with their excellent stable of private plates.
Sadly, Steve Waldenberg, RNC treasurer and magazine editor was unable to attend the rally this year. We don't recall him ever missing the event before and we certainly hope to see him at the next one. On the other hand, we did see the new membership secretary, Karl Formstone, who is doing a great job.
Karl is the chap to contact if you would like to join the RNC. Email [email protected].

* The Ferrari belonging to the owner of T 777 and 777 T suffered a major electrical problem the day before the rally; however, he did manage to get to the event in his wife's Porsche Cayenne, bearing the registrations JEN 484. The Classic Motor Hub were able to print photographs of T 777 and 777 T from the gentleman's phone to display so he could compete.
