We've interviewed a lot of sports stars during the years we have been publishing The World of Personal Number Plates: footballers, track and field athletes, cricketers, assorted Olympians… But the sport most strongly represented in our pages has been boxing.
That's not through any conscious effort on our part, it just seems that boxers really like their private number plates. Perhaps that's not too surprising: showmanship is part of the job for many boxers. This theatrical inclination is by no means found in all boxers but many wear flamboyant robes as they enter the ring, have aspirational or intimidating nicknames and adopt theme tunes to add impact to their entrances into the ring. One might expect these larger than life personalities to display personalised number plates on their cars, don't you think?
Well, this is where things get a little counter-intuitive. The fighters we have provided number plates to, and whom we have interviewed, have mostly rather undermined the stereotype of the brash, aggressive braggart. The people we've met have turned out to be friendly, good-humoured, patient individuals who really didn't scare us at all - so long as they didn't make any sudden movements.
Regtransfers has supplied some terrific personal plates to many of the biggest names in UK boxing, including Tyson Fury, Frank Bruno, Herbie Hyde, Prince Naseem Hamed and promoter Frank Warren. Some, such as Chris Eubank Jr, have had plates bearing their names while others have gone for boxing-themed numbers like Amir Khan's excellent BOX 111G. Amongst the best boxing registrations Regtransfers has sold were KO 1 and KO 2, a brace of unbeatable heavyweights, but there are still plenty of fine boxing numbers to be had.

Tyson Fury
We spoke to Tyson for The World of Personal Number Plates in 2023. The Tyson Fury we met was a personable family man, and a very open and easy person to interview. As well as offering his own perspective on a career that has seen him hold WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO world heavyweight titles, Tyson willingly spoke about his personal life, about family, and about the mental health issues that have troubled him in the past. His willingness to discuss his health problems have earned him praise from various quarters for helping to normalise the issue and reduce the feeling of stigma experienced by many men.
Tyson announced his retirement in January 2025, following two consecutive bouts against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. Both Tyson vs Usyk fights went the distance before each was awarded to Usyk on points. Tyson Fury has retired before and subsequently returned to the ring. At the time of writing, speculation is rife that he may return again to fight fellow Brit Anthony Joshua. Whether or not Tyson Fury returns to boxing, the Gypsy King's place as a giant of the sport is secure.
Like so many other top boxers, Tyson Fury has a soft spot for nice cars and good personal plates. When we met him, Tyson had just bought his wife, Paris, her perfect personal registration, 1 PF. Regtransfers has also supplied Tyson with some great private plates of his own, notably the initial plates 1 TLF and 2 TLF for Tyson Luke Fury, and 88 GK in recognition of his Gypsy King nickname.
Amir Khan
In 2007 we published an interview with Amir Khan. Amir started boxing at the age of 11 and, after a successful stint as an amateur, he came to wider attention when he won a silver medal at the 2003 Olympic Games in Athens. Amir made his pro debut in 2005.
We visited Amir and his dad, Shajaad, when we delivered Amir's fantastic BOX 111G plates. As it turned out, Amir was already a confirmed private plates fan by that time. In addition to BOX 111G he owned V60 XER, A180 XER, and R6 KKO. Amir's dad and uncle also owned personal registrations!
Our next two representatives from the ring also served as examples of second-generation sports stars. Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are, obviously, the sons of two of the UK's most famous boxers. The rivalry between Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn was legendary and, overall, the two were pretty evenly matched so their two bouts against each other were occasions of great national excitement.
Conor Benn
Conor appeared in our June 2017 issue showing off his new KO13 ENN (KO Benn) registration plates. We were lucky that the interview took place in the presence of both Conor and Nigel so we were treated to a first-hand glimpse of the relationship between father and son.
We also found a great plate for Conor's wife, Victoria. V13 ENN looks fantastic on her Range Rover.
Chris Eubank Sr and Chris Eubank Jr
We visited Chris Eubank Jr at his Brighton home when we interviewed him for the July 2019 issue of The World of Personal Number Plates.
Chris Jr's private number plates bear what must be the perfect Eubank registration: EU13 ANK. The name springs out at you immediately, exactly as it should on a top-notch registration plate. By the time we delivered Chris's plates he was already a personal plates convert. His flamboyant father, Chris Sr, has owned private registrations for years, and was famous for driving around with 1 KO on his vehicles. Chris Sr currently owns another great boxing themed number in 111 KO.
Older readers will, no doubt, remember the elder Chris's successful boxing career. In the early 1990s, Chris Eubank Sr held the WBO middleweight and super-middleweight titles. At the time, Chris and Nigel Benn (father of Conor Benn mentioned above) were famous rivals. The two men faced each other twice in the ring: the first bout was won by Eubank; the second was a draw.
Frank Bruno
Frank has always been as famous as a personality outside the ring as he was as a fighter inside it. Frank Bruno became WBC heavyweight champion, defeating American Oliver McCall in 1995.
Ringside, Frank was well known for his unofficial double act with television commentator Harry Carpenter. Carpenter interviewed Frank many times, and the two built up an enduring rapport and friendship. Frank's much-used phrase, "Know what I mean, Harry?" became his catch phrase, and people would often shout it out to both Bruno and Carpenter as they went about their lives. When Harry Carpenter died in 2010, Frank was one of the first to pay tribute to his "real friend".

Daniel Dubois
"Dynamite" Daniel Dubois appeared on the cover of our magazine's 53rd issue in October 2021. At the time of writing, Daniel is IBF heavyweight champion, a title he has held since 2024. He was WBA (Regular version) heavyweight champion from 2022 to 2023.
Daniel Dubois' nickname, "Dynamite" is well deserved: the explosive power in his punches means that nearly all his boxing victories have been by knockout. Boxing seems to run in the Dubois family DNA: Daniel's younger sister, Caroline, is WBC women's lightweight world champion.
The cover photo of the issue in which Daniel's interview appeared showed his Mercedes sporting his DUB 801S plates from Regtransfers. It's a great registration, and just about the best "Dubois" number one could get.
