On Saturday 21 September 2024, British heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois knocked the wind out of a crowd of Anthony Joshua supporters when he demolished their hero in five brutal rounds. His defeat of Joshua means that Dubois retains the IBF World Championship that he inherited when the title was vacated by Oleksandr Usyk in June 2024.
On the night
As Dubois entered the ring, it was clear that the majority of the crowd was not behind him. In fact, the odds were quite literally stacked against the younger man, as he prepared to defend his title for the first time: bookies and pundits considered Joshua a near certainty for the victory. But, when the action began, Daniel Dubois seemed to have absolute confidence and the beating he unleashed upon Anthony Joshua was relentless. The win was well-earned and even Joshua fans conceded that Dubois was the dominant fighter on the night.
